I am 56 and I have a Ph.D. in engineering from a highly reputed institute in India. I am a published author.
At 5, I was a math wizard doing difficult mental calculations. At 8, I taught math to my own class and lower standards. I believe in inculcating strong math skills by way of increasing one's mental abilities. I share my surname with India's first Wrangler from Cambridge University.
One of my main reasons for offering to be a math tutor is to pass on my natural love for maths.
I am a perennial teacher/student. I have taught a number of subjects - maths, chemistry, IT, and many engineering subjects - at different times, mostly because there was a need. Sometimes, it was because an individual/group needed to be coached in quick time for some difficult examination. At other times, it was because an organisation needed a competent teacher for short periods. I have taught more than 50 courses to audiences of varying ability right down from 6-9th standard children to engineering undergraduates. I prefer teaching at school level.
All the same, I continue to learn new things, and am currently doing an online course on economics.
I prefer not to use paper as far as possible. I believe math should be a part of one's mental makeup. Paper and pencil, or keyboard and visual display unit might facilitate the learning procedure or recordkeeping, however, without the proper mental make-up maths will not seem interesting or rewarding.
