I CURRENTLY HAVE A WAITING LIST FOR OCTOBER 2024 - PLEASE GET IN TOUCH IF YOU WISH TO BE ADDED FOR SCIENCE OR MATHS TUTORING STARTING OCTOBER 2024

I'm Phil, a science teacher at a secondary school in Kent. I had my first career within the pharmaceutical industry and worked in various positions for over 10 years. I then decided on a career change during covid, where by I completed my PGCE. I had to adapt and learn many new ways to engage students which have proven to be extremely useful with online tutoring. I currently teach to the OCR curriculum, but have also used AQA and Edexcel.

I am free evenings and weekends and during the holidays.

Tutoring Experience

My training started at a very good grammar school in Rochester for my placement year. I then moved to a trust, which I have been teaching at for 3 years now, teaching between the ages of 11 to 18. I teach all sciences at KS3 and KS4 and chemistry at KS5. My specialism is chemistry and I understand that in exams this is the one where the students struggle, it can be the subject to focus on to really bump up the GCSE grades or to improve on if you are at KS3 level.

Tutoring Approach

I have 4 years teaching experience, I also have a wealth of knowledge of applying science to real life situations. I have worked for 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry applying chemistry to everyday situations.

I teach all 3 sciences 11-16, chemistry up to 18, and maths from 11-16

I use a variety of techniques which focus on Shed Loads of Practice (SLOP), this gives the students plenty of opportunity to show me they understand the topic, a variety of interactive quizzes or worksheets which helps the student develop their long term memory of the topic.

I welcome a chat first to make sure we are both a good fit for each other, as I believe a student and tutor should work in harmony together.

I would need the students current grade in science, the grade they are working towards and which curriculum they are studying to better help me prepare my first lesson.
