I am an experienced teacher committed to help students achieve their potential and goals by giving them the confidence and skills needed to succeed. I am now also offering tution on-line because of the difficulties involved in socially distanced tutoring, but which also has the advantage of saving travelling time for students, allowing access from any location and enabling an electronic record of parts of the session they might wish to review.
I have taught and been head of department in several well-known independent schools, was part of the management team which established a new City Technology College, have examined for several examination groups and have been tutoring Physics and Maths, mostly at A-level, for ten years. Nearly all my students have achieved or exceeded their grade targets and secured a place at their first-choice university.
My students describe me as friendly and patient, but also honest in advising them what they need to do to achieve their academic goals. We work together to identify techniques or topics about which they are less confident and any gaps in underlying knowledge. We then plan sessions to tackle these, involving a mixture of teaching from first pinciples, working on structured examples and examination questions, improving examination technique and suggesting consolidation and preparation activity for the next session. Electronic revision notes with links to helpful, validated web sites can also be provided. I will resume face-to-face tutoring when circumstances allow.
