Hi. I'm Paul. I am an excellent professional science tutor and qualified teacher with 35 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I recently stepped down from full time teaching at an outstanding secondary school where I was assistant headteacher and where I still occasionally teach.
I excel at 1-2-1 tutoring. I currently tutor 14 students. All are repeat bookings. My A level tutees secured A* grades last summer and my GCSE students typically add 2 grades from their mock exam scores. My current A level students are projected to get a mean score of grade A and my current GCSE students are projected a mean grade 8. I do not select my students. I help students of all abilities reach their potential.

I am married and we have raised 2 children. One is a 6th year Medical student at the University of Oxford, having attained 12A* grades at GCSE at the age of 15 and 4A* grades at A2. My son is a Computer Science graduate working at The Met Office. I enjoy working with a wide variety of students and particularly enjoy tutoring. I find it very rewarding to really raise the confidence and attainment of students . I also enjoy polishing those students looking to apply to the most competitive universities.

Tutoring Experience

33 years as a Head of Physics, Head of House, Head of Year, Senior teacher and Assistant headteacher. Tutor for 10 years mostly through other agencies. I have been an Examiner for two exam boards. I was the Oxbridge Co-ordinator at my school. I currently tutor 14 students GCSE biology, chemistry and physics and A2 physics. I lead Easter Revision Physics revision courses in Exeter.

Tutoring Approach

I tailor my teaching to the preferred learning style of the student. Building confidence and capability to meet the needs of the student. If necessary, we look at how we learn, how the brain functions and what we can do to maximise learning in school and in tutor sessions. This is key to ensure the student can progress as an independent student in future years. I am able to draw on 33 years of teaching over 5000 students to approach learning from a number of different angles.
