Oona

Hello! I'm Oona, an English Literature graduate from the University of Cambridge with a strong background in education, communication, and student support. I’ve worked as an English Language Assistant in Spain with the British Council, where I taught teenagers from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I’ve also mentored students through Cambridge’s outreach programmes and volunteered as an editor for children’s creative writing. Based in Sheffield, I’m passionate about making learning accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.

Tutoring Experience

I’ve taught English to students aged 11–19 as part of a year-long programme in a secondary school in Valencia, Spain. I independently planned and delivered lessons, adapted materials for different learning styles, and supported students with varying levels of confidence and ability. I've also tutored family members and friends, including GCSE and A-Level students, and I have experience supporting learners with autism in both educational and informal settings. Through mentoring, outreach work, and creative editing, I’ve developed a flexible and empathetic approach to education that meets students where they are.

Whether you’re preparing for an exam, building essay skills, or just trying to improve your confidence, I’ll work with you to set achievable goals and create a supportive, motivating environment. I often use creative and engaging resources—drawing on literature, discussion, and interactive activities—to make sessions stimulating and memorable. I’m especially mindful of creating inclusive spaces, and I have experience supporting neurodiverse learners, including students with autism.
