I have come into teaching from the Engineering industry so I understand how maths is applied in the world of work. I am happily married and the father of 3 amazing children.
I have a first and second degree in Engineering. I have been teaching in a high school for the past 13 years. I have been involved in private tuition for the past 10 years. I have helped students who were terrified about maths grow in confidence and learn to enjoy maths. I am also a GCSE examiner so I coach my students on exam strategies, how best to set out their work to get top marks.
I use baseline tests to identify gaps in learning and begin narrowing those gaps. I apply a range of teaching techniques to cater for the varied learning styles of students. I expose students to different ways to represent a question and efficient ways of answering a question. I break down difficult concepts in ways my students can relate to and work from the known to the unknown. I try to make sure them feel relaxed by adding a bit of humour.
