I am an experienced secondary school teacher, working in a local independent school with over 9 years experience of teaching science and maths. I love the sciences and maths, and want to convey the joys of these subjects to my students, whilst helping them to improve their attainment in public examinations. I have a Masters in Natural Sciences (Astrophysics & chemistry) from UCL in London and a PGCE from Liverpool, completed as part of the Teach First program. In addition, I have a MA in Education. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and enabling my students to improve their attainment. I currently live in Auckland, New Zealand where I teach the English curriculum (GCSE and A Level Physics) in the top independent school here. I am therefore available for online lessons, either in the morning or evening UK time.
I initially begin by assessing the tutees' current level using assessment material from the appropriate specimen. This will highlight areas for focus, on which I will use analogies and example questions to help close any gaps in their knowledge. Fundamentally, it is about practice and repetition, and I will use a wide range of resources at my disposal to help in this area. I am quick to build a strong relationship with my students, helping them see the joy of the sciences and maths. This helps ensure that the students continue to work outside of the tutoring sessions and they will be provided with material to use outside of tutorial sessions.
