I would describe myself as a focused and dedicated teacher with a decade and a half of classroom experience. My specialism is in English Language and Literature, with PSE, Drama and R.S. as secondary subjects.

Tutoring Experience

From 2005 to the present, I taught English Language and Literature across the spectrum, from KS3 to GCSE. I also have pastoral specialism dealing with children who have a range of learning difficulties, including mild autism, dyslexia and emotional and behavioural problems.
Some of my duties include: the monitoring of attendance and punctuality; maintenance of standards; development of social skills within the curriculum and the close discussions with parents and pupils around issues of standards being called into question.
I also run extra curricular activities including the BBC Young Reporters Program, Photograph Club and the NaNoWrMo creative writing project.

I have taught in a range of schools, from a small suburban school in Caerphilly, a village comprehensive in Torfaen and a large, diverse school in Newport.

I also have experience in teaching and developing curriculums for PSHE, Drama and English.

Tutoring Approach

I am committed to developing my teaching by integrating current teaching theories with practical, child-centred practices.

I offer remote learning tuition via zoom and skype, ensuring that pupils are in a comfortable and familiar home environment. All resources can be shared on the cloud, or emailed to the parents. Tasks can be completed online, or pupils can take pictures of their hand-written work, and then emailed directly to me.
