Olivia

Olivia is currently working with our 6, nearly 7 year old daughter who has not quite progressed in school, probably a combination of her own learning challenges, being summer born but also the school environment with inconsistent teachers. A difficult combination when our daughter has learnt to manage her anxiety for learning/her own ability through skilled avoidance, further limiting her progress.
In searching for a tutor, I was concerned about how my daughter would manage the idea of having extra support as it was always with great difficulty that we could get her to do work with us.
Olivia took the time before we started sessions to listen to our concerns, both individual and systemic, and use this to inform her approach in supporting our daughter.
Olivia has become one of the highlights of our daughter's week. She loves to see her. They have a lot of fun and our daughter is highly motivated to engage with whatever they are doing (maths, English - she needs help for all areas of learning). She is proud of what she does with Olivia and her confidence is growing.
It feels a great relief as parents that someone has listened, acknowledged that there are areas to develop as well as strengths and
thought carefully about how best to support her learning.
Olivia has worked around our availability in terms of timing. This is appreciated given the juggle of daily life's demands. She comes to our (somewhat chaotic) home and settles in with flexibility and generosity. This has helped build her relationship with our daughter.

Olivia is a kind supportive tutor with a relaxed style that is encouraging and engaging. We used her to support my son through 11+ preparation and found her flexible resourceful and working in a way targeted to my child’s needs. In addition to working well with my child she has been helpful in discussing his needs with me and discussing the pros and cons of different schools that might suit him which has been useful as haven’t been through the system before.

Olivia has already made a great impact working with my 10 year old daughter to build her confidence with Maths in Year 6. Olivia has given her greater confidence and a new enthusiasm in her approach to Maths and has a lovely teaching manner. Her resources are appropriate and lessons well planned. She has proved reliable and professional. We look forward to working with her in the future.
