I'm a research-active academic with a background in both higher education and the NHS. I hold a BA and MA in Linguistics from Falmouth University and earned my PhD in Psycholinguistics from Manchester Metropolitan University. My work sits at the intersection of psychology and language, and I’ve contributed to published research, book chapters, and large-scale grant projects — including two multi-million-pound Wellcome Trust grants, where I serve as a co-applicant and advisor.
Alongside research, I’m passionate about supporting students at all levels. Whether you're navigating undergraduate coursework, preparing a postgraduate dissertation, or tackling complex data analysis, I provide practical, personalised guidance to help you succeed.
I can support you with:
Undergraduate and postgraduate study
Research design and methodology
Qualitative and quantitative data analysis
Academic writing, structure, and clarity
Marking-style feedback and proofreading
Study skills, organisation, and revision planning
My approach is supportive, clear, and grounded in real academic experience. If you're looking for expert tutoring with a research-informed edge, I’m here to help.
Delivered personalised tutoring across primary, secondary, and higher education levels, with a focus on student engagement, confidence, and academic progress.
Worked extensively with learners requiring additional support, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Developed and implemented tailored learning plans that addressed behavioural and emotional barriers to learning.
Provided academic support in research methods, writing, and critical thinking to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Lectured at university level, designing and delivering curriculum content in psychology, linguistics, and communication.
Supported a wide range of learners, from neurodiverse students to high achievers seeking enrichment, always adapting methods to suit individual needs and learning styles.
My tutoring style is focused, practical, and built around helping you get results as quickly as possible. To make the most of our time together, I ask that students come to sessions prepared, engaged, and ready to ask questions. The more specific you can be about what you need help with, the more effective our work will be.
I treat every student with the same level of respect and academic expectation I would offer a PhD candidate, no matter your current stage. This means encouraging you to think critically, tackle challenges independently, and build the resilience needed for long-term academic success.
You won’t just get answers; you’ll gain the tools and confidence to find them yourself.
