Over the course of my time tutoring, I've learnt a huge amount. I've become a much better and more sharply focused tutor. But I'm always learning, and that's part of why I love tutoring so much. Even with subjects and areas that I've taught constantly for months, I always feel like there's something I can do to make the lesson more enjoyable and more effective. And that’s where I have the advantage of being a full-time tutor - this is all I do, every day, and I can spend as much time as I need perfecting my craft.
I believe tutoring is so much more than just qualifications and achievements, it’s something personal. Not every student has particular ambitions set in stone or a specific exam to study for. But whether you have your heart set on a dream school, or just want to get a feel for the contemporary literary climate with no pressure, I’d be happy to help - I’m always excited for a new tutoring challenge, even if I haven’t offered it specifically before.
If you're from overseas, then the good news is that almost 50% of my client-base are either currently overseas or recently moved to the UK. Particularly for individuals who have not grown up in this country, the UK examination system can be particularly daunting. And that's where my experience with foreign students can be especially helpful.
I also offer classes for children who may be too young for the formal exam route, but who may find benefit from a more loosely structured classroom environment in which to discuss and hone the basic mental and academic skills they'll need as they progress further within the school system.
To help you feel more comfortable about arranging a first lesson, I offer a full refund on the finder's fee if we're not a good fit. No questions asked. So if you’re interested in getting some outside academic help, or if you have something new you want to talk to me about, just send me a message and I’d be happy to chat with you about it!
Now for the boring stuff! Feel free to chat to me over messages and ask me about my usual policies, but I don't have too many, so I'll also list them here on my profile for your convenience:
All lessons are 55 minutes in length. This gives me a quick 5 minute break between lessons, and also allows me the time to ensure I have all the correct files prepared for each session.
Cancellation policy: I don't have a particularly stressful policy, and I rarely have to use it. I reserve the right to charge in full for a lesson that's cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice. That being said, I usually only do this if a client cancels at the last minute often.
Payment: I do ask for payment sent in advance of the lesson. Hopefully this isn't too much of an issue!
