I am a native speaker from San Sebastián, in the north of Spain. Before moving to London I lived in Madrid for 15 years. I did a BA degree in English and German at the prestigious university of Salamanca, and a Master in Translation English- Spanish. Since I graduated I have always been taking courses to broaden my knowledge and keep updated with the latest methodologies to reach all my students.
I have special interest in CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning),; it is proven that students feel more motivated to learn the target language while learning content, it is more natural.
My other field of research is the Theory of Multiple Intelligences and Emotional Intelligence, as I believe they are essential, especially in a world dominated by technology.
I have been Head of the Modern Languages Department and also the Bilingual coordinator in a successful school in Madrid, for 11 years. As a member of TESOL Spain and member of the Bilingual Association in Spain I have given numerous conferences in their annual congresses,
I have always worked in the education sector, teaching Spanish, English and German for 25 years. I know well both Spanish and British education systems and am familiar with exams and their specifications as I have been preparing students to take GCSE, and A Level exams, and I am also accredited DELE (Diploma Español como Lengua Extranjera) examiner. I have a good record of excellent results and have plenty of experience helping students boosting their grades and success in their exams.
I have also led some teacher training courses and still tutor students online in the Master in Education for the Open University in Spain.
The last three years I have been working in the Spanish school in London, where I enjoy teaching students from different nationalities. The school is characterised by its multiculturalism.
I really get on well with students as I am flexible to adapt to their needs and interests. Therefore, students never take learning as something boring.
I tailor the lessons according to the students´needs and interests and I provide techniques that help students become confident in using the Spanish language. Learning a language also involves learning its culture, traditions and history.
I have always been praised for my dedication, work ethic and passion towards teaching.
