Art and the Arts as a whole has always been my greatest passion and has made me who and what I am today. I am fascinated and intrigued by all aspects of art and design with a constant desire to continue growing and learning myself either through teaching or my practice. Teaching has and continues to be one of my most rewarding experiences, to share and enthuse the wonders of creativity is a great privilege.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching for 15yrs,13yrs were in the Further Education sector which included Higher Education courses so from level 3-7. I have taught a range of different age groups, levels and awarding bodies within art and design and taught across all the main disciplines eg Fine Art, Sculpture, Print making, Graphics, Animation, Illustration, Fashion, Textiles, Photography, Theatre set design and Costume etc. All of which have interdisciplinary and core skills required before going into specialist fields of practice. I was also a curriculum leader for five years which meant I would develop the curriculums to suit the changes within the Art and Design sector, I was part of a teaching and observation cross college team and an internal verifier. I now teach part time adult life drawing and general art classes at a local council run gallery. I continue to be a practicing artist which I feel keeps me up to date as well as helps develop my skills in teaching and learning.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is always to build confidence first, never judge, take into account individual needs and what it is they wish to gain or achieve for themselves. Then it would be developing their own ideas, skills and independence towards what ever the next stage or level they wish to explore or go to. I have a very calm approach to the way I teach and able to adapt to alsorts of personalities and complexities which has been my strength as a teacher. I also have a great sense of humour and fun!!!
