Hi, my name is Niamh and I am a fully qualified Maths teacher. I graduated 10 days years ago after studying Maths and Education in Galway, Ireland. I moved to the England after I graduated for what I thought was going to be 1 year but I never left and have made my home here now and I love it. I have just moved careers to work with the Civil Service but I am still keen to tutor in a subject I am incredibly passionate about.
During my teaching career I have taught every year group from year 7 up to year 12. I have taught every ability in maths - from top set classes who are working towards grades 7/8/9 to lower ability classes who are working towards a grade 4 in order to pass the subject. I have had great success with pupils and every student I have tutored has made significant progress and reached their goal.
I am a friendly, patient and approachable person. My students in school were always happy to ask me for help during class and after school. I can cater for different learners of any ability. I am confident I can help students improve their subject knowledge as well as their confidence in maths. I am very willing to repeat and go over a topic as often as the pupil needs, as I appreciate that maths doesn't come easy to everyone. My philosophy is to make sure my students fully understand the basic concepts of the subject first. I believe this is vital to their success in Maths. I use past GCSE exam papers and questions to consolidate learning and show students what is expected of them in a test/exam.
