My name is Taz, I am a Cambridge undergraduate and master's graduate, working as a part-time tutor with four years experience. Before starting working in private tuition, I worked in a school and have experience as a SEND TA. I am available to tutor History, Politics to degree level, English and Economics to A-Level, and Maths up to GCSE with flexible hours.
I also have experience successfully supporting students in Humanities Oxbridge applications (Arch & Anth, History, HSPS), including personal statements, mock interviews, and admissions exams at 11+ and 13+.
After graduating with a BA in Politics and Anthropology at Cambridge in 2020, I worked with SEND students at Harris Academy Beckenham. I have since completed an MPhil in Economic and Social History with distinction at Cambridge.
I am an open-minded, positive, and patient teacher, with high expectations of my tutees and I pride myself on being able to break down complex issues into an easily comprehensible format.
I am experienced tutor with clients ranging from primary to masters level.
In 2020, I worked with SEND students at Harris Academy Beckenham, working closely with students with autism, ADHD, and dyslexia, among other learning difficulties. I worked primarily with year 9, helping across all subjects, with a focus on English, History, and Maths. I also ran classes in these subjects during the COVID-19 lockdown. I have also seen firsthand, the effect of the pandemic on children's learning and believe it is possible, with the right help, for all students to get back up to speed.
I also have experience writing university personal statements and can offer help with Oxbridge admissions and mock interviews for humanities. I also have experience with competitive admissions exams at 11+ and 13+.
At secondary school/GCSE during the first half of the Academic year, I will first consult with the student/parents regarding the areas that require the most attention. I will then formulate lesson plans to help tackle difficult content, finishing each session with a problem sheet or set questions to work through together.
At A-Level and later in the academic year, I would expect pieces of written work that I can give detailed feedback on. This allows me to help with study skills more generally, and improve the structure and readability of work.
I am also available to work with SEND students, as I have developed a variety of skills to make school more palatable for children with special educational needs. In addition, not all students thrive in an exam environment, and I am keen to help those students cope with and excel in school also.
