Hi, I'm Natalie! I am an outgoing and friendly individual with a huge deal of passion and enthusiasm for education. I am currently living and teaching in East Ayrshire. I am available for tutoring during the week in the evenings and school holidays. I have been teaching for four years and have a wide range of knowledge in the Primary sector. Before becoming a teacher, I was an Early Years Practitioner. I also have experience working with children and young people with additional support needs. At present, I work in a communication centre within a mainstream school; supporting and teaching children who have Autism, ADHD and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with friends and family as well as climbing hills and going long walks.
I have been teaching for 4 years. I have had experience teaching in P1-7 as well as teaching in composite P2/3 and multi-composite P5-7 classes. As well as teaching in mainstream classes, I have taught children with additional support needs within a mainstream class as well as working within a communication centre. I am flexible and creative with my planning and can tailor the curriculum to meet the needs of all.
Before I plan any lessons, I like to spend time with parents and their child to gain an in-depth understanding of the individual child and their needs. We would then have a discussion around the expectations and goals of the tutoring sessions and create a shared understanding of what is expected and where we want to get to.
Using my professional judgement, I will always be willing to change / adapt any lessons depending on the progression of each sessions. I am happy to prepare some homework for your child to practise any concepts we have covered in each session to allow time for practise and to highlight any areas of development.
I am flexible and creative in my abilities to deliver lessons which are tailored to your child's pace of learning. I will use both oral and written methods as well as active sessions with concrete materials and games as well as incorporating the use of technology. I believe when children feel valued and learning is tailored to their individual needs; they become more confident and develop a positive attitude to learning. My aim is to create fun, engaging learning experiences that allow children to grow in confidence and develop a positive mindset to their overall learning experiences.
