I have been a Primary teacher for 11 years, since completing a Degree in French and Spanish at The University of Leicester and later completing a Primary PGCE through Nottingham University. I have almost completed a Masters in Education. I studied for this part time whilst continuing to work full time.
I am especially passionate about English and I have had the opportunity to lead English as a subject in three different primary schools. I have an expert knowledge of phonics and I have been trained in various phonics programs.
I also speak fluent Spanish and have experience in teaching English as a foreign language.
I have significant experience tutoring children from 4- 16 years old. I have tutored various subjects such as KS1 Maths, Primary English, phonics, English as a foreign language and also GCSE Spanish.
I have also tutored English to adults.
When I first meet a tutee I will spend some time getting to know their strengths and weaknesses. It also important to build a good rapport with the tutee for effective learning and engagement during the sessions. With younger learners I will incorporate games and play based activities.
With older students, I will go through past paper questions and work through examples togethers. In Spanish sessions this will be a range of speaking, listening, reading and writing activities.
