I am an engaging science teacher who likes to make things fun and inspire children to succeed. I am known for the founding of G:Sci, the media science club at The Global Academy, run by the company that brings you Capital, Heart, Classic FM and other radio stations.
My opinions were sought on the STEM curriculum by The Daily Mail, and I have worked with a NASA scientist to organise an international collaboration between schools in Australia, Europe and the UK to turn the Earth into a Rocket Sandwich.
Twelve years' teaching experience from 11 to 19. Key Stage 3, 4 and Biology and Chemistry at A-Level. I have also taught Chemistry IB and have recently been teaching a year 5 class.
Taught at all abilities in a range of schools, from academies, top state schools and an SEN Alternative Provision. I am currently teaching as Head of Chemistry at well-known independent school in London.
Teaching through discovery is the strapline. I put a balance upon direction and discovery. We will use exam papers, the specifications, examiners, model answers and various approaches that tailor learning to your child so they can take direction on where they want to go next.
I can take your child on day trips to museums and science events and provide a more immersive experience at a rate of £250 for the day - most entry fees and transport are included in the price. These trips may be in small groups of children and will always be accompanied by another DBS checked adult. Trips in excess of 5 hours may incur an additional charge.
Sessions will be in either 1 or 2 hour blocks up to a maximum of 2 hours per week, preferably on weekends. Additional sessions may be offered in the run up towards exams or during the holiday breaks.
This is an immersive tuition experience unlike any other from a qualified teacher of twelve years' experience, because they really will be learning things on a holistic level, not only just science. By going on trips they could be inspired to learn new things entirely.
If for reasons I need to meet in person for the child to carry out a practical experiment then an additional £20 may be added to the total session cost.
For such an experience, you really are getting a bargain. I am taking a maximum of 2 students, so apply early to avoid disappointment.
