I have a double nationality (French and Portuguese) and I was born in France, were I lived until my third year degree. My family is all Portuguese so I have spoken Portuguese since I was born too. I'm currently 28 and I'm living in Hardy Road, South Wimbledon. I have been in the UK for 6 years now.
I have worked as a Language Foreign Assistant in Eastbrook Comprehensive School in Dagenham and I have worked as a Modern Foreign Languages teacher in Frien Barnet School in High Barnet (Mixed Comprehensive School) and in Sacred Heart of Mary's Girl School in Upminster. I have also worked in a mixed Catholic primary school in Upminster too. At the moment I am permanently employed at St Philomena's High School for Girls, which is an Outstanding School in Sutton, Surrey. I have taken part in school trips to León, Spain and I am currently implementing a teacher's partnership with a school in Pakistan, Karachi.
I have been trained following the Cumbria's approach to teaching languages which is quite a modern and an interactive approach to learning languages. It is based on the communicative approach but it also relies on the use of English whenever necessary. In the classroom, I am committed to widening pupils’ perspective but mostly, I commit myself to raising the attainment of pupils and ensuring they achieve their full potential. To raise the attainment of pupils, I make sure that the pupils are able to use the language spontaneously in meaningful interactions by giving them support and by scaffolding the interaction language vocabulary. As a private tutor, I will ensure that I include regular practice activities which will be short and varied but efficient in order for the tutee to maintain the same level of enthusiasm and confidence when speaking or writing in the target language. I will adapt my resources to the individual needs of the tutee.
