Private Maths Tutor in Ferryhill

What is the best way to learn maths? My intellectual curiosity is learning science, specifically "What is the best way for humans to learn?" and "What makes someone gifted?" I also love the concept of maths - the language of the universe - which deals with describing connections and relationships which exist across all subjects and aspects of life.
I live in Coxhoe and grew up in Oxfordshire. I love running and rowing in the outdoors. I have a master's degree in behavioural science from Durham University.

Tutoring Experience

I recently completed a paid Stanford University course on the most effective way to teach maths based on the latest learning science (certificate available). Before that, I spent four months as a maths tutor at an award winning agency (reference available). For this, I completed training in Safeguarding, Behaviour Management, Special Educational Needs, Compliance, and the Tutor Ofsted VCR Training course.
I also have younger siblings who I enjoyed helping with school work and I volunteered as teaching support in a local primary school during my GCSEs.
Previusly DBS checked although now expired.

Tutoring Approach

I teach based on the work of Stanford University learning science researchers. My resources come from Youcubed.org. The website belongs to Professor Jo Boaler - a leading researcher in maths education - and is packed with free information and tasks all based on the research of Jo and colleagues.
The teaching methods are revolutionary and contrast to traditional maths education in England. Adjectives would be: open, explorative, conceptual, intuitive, fun, creative, visual, colourful, patterns, and growth mindset. The methods develop a deep, conceptual understanding of maths which studies show improves maths achievement.
This approach is not suited for students looking to prepare for exams. However, studies show that students taught this 'Stanford way' achieve higher exam grades (see Youcubed.org).
