Private English Tutor in Tower Hamlets

I am a British born teacher whom is a descendent of Bengali immigrants. I live in the East End of London and have done so all my life which means that I understand the correlation between cultural/socio-economic deprivation and educational outcomes. I am fluent in Bengali (written and spoken). I am a Russell group English graduate (Queen Mary University) and a qualified SENDCO (NASENCO) from University College London (UCL). I have a wealth of personal and professional experiences that help me relate to students and get the best out of them. I am a sincere and conscientious individual who has a genuine love of teaching.

Tutoring Experience

I have almost a decade of experience teaching students ranging from key stage 3, 4 and 5. I have played an instrumental role in creating schemes of work for all Key Stages to aid in department development plans and raise attainment. With this knowledge, I have been responsible for introducing texts that show a cultural consideration as well as account for reading ages and grasp of the English language. Making every single lesson productive, challenging and relevant has been part of the reason why an A Level English class that I taught at an inner city school achieved 100% grades A - C. I have a proven track record of raising attainment which has helped me earn the trust of my employers to teach the most challenging students. I have contributed significantly to school headline figures and have superb progress scores for my students. I am also a qualified SENDCO which affords me a range of insights and strategies that allow me to make learning easier and more enjoyable for the students that are rendered vulnerable as a result of special educational needs. Overall I am a very strong English teacher with a passion for securing progress that is reflected by my track record.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach entails assuming that every single concept I go over is be to the student. This way, I can identify gaps in their learning as well as strengthen existing knowledge. I also contextualise learning for students so that they can understand the broader ideas that encompass a discipline/programme of study so that they can access learning with deeper understanding and greater passion. I can make connections between the existing knowledge of students and new concepts so that I can strengthen the connective tissue of learning (learning is a process of connecting existing knowledge to new knowledge). I aim to leave students with knowledge as well as the skills that help them in exams and beyond.
