Easter Revision Course 2025 (GCSE English Language) - 5 places remaining
I am a PGCE qualified English teacher, Head of English and GCSE examiner with 14 years of experience in both independent and state schools. As a practising examiner, I know what skills and knowledge my students need to be successful and my step-by-step approach provides a clear path for them to follow. My excellent track record of coaching students through their GCSEs (a 2 grade improvement on average) is a testament to the success of my methods and from my experience, having this clarity is key to building confidence that maximises performance.
I have been in the education sector for 14 years, working my way up from a special educational needs assistant in a primary school all the way to being Head of English at a secondary school and I can honestly say I love what I do! As a tutor, I have supported students with a range of abilities and needs from students who are looking to secure a good passing grade to get into college all the way up to the most able who require clarity on what they need to do in an exam to secure a grade 9. My experiences have given me an appreciation of the different barriers faced by different students and allow me to provide the support that cannot always be managed in a busy classroom.
Warm and patient by nature, I provide a learning environment where my students feel confident to ask questions and take risks. My tutoring sessions sit within a broader plan, written and tailored to each student after an initial assessment, and each focuses on a specific skill that we build on over time, linking directly to whichever exam board specification is being studied. Some of the core areas I work with my students on are:
My service includes written feedback and access to GCSE revision materials.
Ultimately, my aim is to build strong relationships with my students so that they enjoy our sessions and feel a sense of ownership over their learning.
