I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher, now a professional A level biology tutor, who since 2014 has helped numerous students maximise their potential. For most of the last 10 years the majority of my tutees have been via another tutor site. I recently returned my focus to First Tutors as I much prefer their method of a one-off payment for contact details. It was becoming clear to me that the alternative system of making deductions per lesson was proving much more expensive for students / parents.

Tutoring Experience

PGCE plus 15 years total in UK teaching in both state high schools and private schools. For the period September 2003 to August 2014 I was teaching science specialising in A level biology .My experience covers all ability levels including Oxbridge entrants. Tutoring AQA and OCR A candidates since 2014.

All lesson observations both OFSTED and internal during the last three years have been rated outstanding. " A very gentle but extremely skilled practitioner" OFSTED March 2013

Tutoring Approach

My aim is to maximise the potential of my students and also increase their interest in the subject.

Using AQA / OCR A specific worksheets developed by myself we first ensure content understanding of the topic under focus is secure. Then, by detailed examination of past questions and their mark schemes we fine tume student answering technique with a particular empahasis on answering application and analysis type questions.

I conside my widespread experience of practical agriculture and horticulture helps me to bring the subject to life and make the study of biology more interesting for my students.
