I am a qualified Secondary and Sixth Form teacher with 4 years experience teaching KS3-KS5 English, History and Religious Studies. I graduated from SOAS, University of London in 2016 with a First in History with History of Art.
In the future, I plan to pursue a Masters in Modern History to further develop my interest of 20th century History and I hope to continue to research for a PhD centred on North African History.
Beyond academia I have taken the time to travel abroad, which I feel is necessary to broaden my perspective and develop a deeper understanding of different cultural and social customs.
Since 2016, I have been teaching in the UK and the UAE in both state and private schools. I have developed my expertise in teaching GCSE, IGCSE and A-level History and Religous studies.
I have also previously volunteered as a private Tutor, teaching children aged between 8-10 years KS2 Maths and English. The analytical skills I have obtained from studying History can easily be applied to other subject areas including, Sociology, Religious Studies and English, both Language and Literature.
During my undergraduate degree I worked as an Outreach Ambassador at my University. This role was aimed at reducing the educational attainment gap between students. Being an Ambassador involved delivering workshops and masterclasses not only focused on History but also on the benefits and challenges of higher education. I worked within my University and travelled to Secondary schools and Sixth form colleges to endorse the pursuit of University education.
As a tutor, I am familiar with the several different ways of learning. I appreciate that these are not mutually exclusive ways of learning and instead overlap with every student. With each pupil I will identify their most suitable way of learning whilst incorporating other methods to assist in developing and enhancing their understanding of each topic.
I place a particular emphasis on using past exam materials and model answers as a form of study and revision, as these provide significant information relating to course content and examiner expectations.
