Hi there, my name is Dr Meraj (MBChB (Commendation), MPhil) and I'm a qualified medical doctor currently working as a radiology trainee in the North-West of England.
The volume of work and difficult concepts, combined with clinical placements and time pressures makes studying medicine a great challenge. Knowing what to learn is also part of the battle. Having been through medical school and now with years of clinical experience I believe I'm well placed to help you navigate through any challenges you're facing.
I can help you with any aspect of medicine whether it's cardiology, surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, psychiatry etc. or just how to approach different clinical presentations. I also place a particular focus on exam practice. My main is to help you understand key principles which will not only help you to excel in medical school, but to take forward with you into your career.
Where I can also really help you is with OSCEs. These can be very daunting exams, but my experience will help you develop a calm and methodical approach to clinical exams.
I have a flexible and dynamic teaching style which focuses on primarily grasping basic principles, which are often not emphasised enough, on which you can build a more detailed level of understanding. Through my own experience I have learnt how to make seemingly difficult topics easier to understand and have ways to break down large volumes of information into more manageable chunks.
I have many years of both formal and informal teaching medical students. I have delivered multiple teaching sessions to university students which have been extremely well received and have been an examiner for medical school OSCEs.
The foundation of my approach is spiral learning which involves revisiting topics in multiple formats with continual assessment. I also strongly believe in a tailored one-to-one approach to teaching whereby I can adapt to the learning needs of my student. If you're a visual learner I'll make you handy flashcards or if you're more of an audio learner then I'll record a short podcast (maybe not through the medium of dance although I'll give it a try!).
I am relaxed and easy-going; whether you want to meet face to face at my/your home, a cafe or the library I'll work around you. For online sessions I can use whichever platform you prefer.
