Mems earned a First Class degree in Politics and Sociology from Warwick University, achieving the highest grade in her cohort. Her early career involved serving as a Parliamentary Clerk at the House of Commons. Subsequently, she transitioned from her role as a civil servant at the Department for Education to focus on higher education in the Sheffield area.
In addition to her professional roles, Mems serves as a trustee and has gained direct experience collaborating with high-ranking elected officials. Despite receiving an offer from Cambridge University for a master's program, Mems opted to kickstart her career in politics. Notably, she excelled in her A-levels, securing an A* in Sociology, an A in English Literature, and an A in Government and Politics.
Mems brings a wealth of experience to her role as a residential tutor for the National Citizenship Service. Her confidence in working with diverse learning abilities is evident, and she possesses the skill to develop essays while offering crucial exam techniques and revision methods. Notably, Mems has conducted tutoring sessions both in person and virtually.
Her involvement extends to various organizations, including Bite the Ballot, the British Youth Council, and NCS. Mems has a keen interest in social policy and race relations, as demonstrated by her participation in the Tuwezeshe young women’s advisory panel and ParliREACH, a Workplace Equality Network (WEN) dedicated to increasing awareness and appreciation of race, ethnicity, and cultural heritage issues at the Houses of Parliament.
