I am an enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate teacher, who discovered teaching in the remote corners of Thailand. In my role, Research Lead - I have been finding ways to empower young people in education; whilst making learning experiences better. My passion stems from a love of literature and language that I share with my students, and continue to explore in my spare time. Further to this, I embed strategies that combine English, Media and Film Studies to create enriching classrooms.
I am qualified secondary English teacher from University College London, Institute of Education. Within six years, I have worked in both small and large secondary schools (one in inner city London and one in Milton Keynes). This experience supplements the skills I developed as a teacher in Thailand, under the British Council. My breath of experience has provided me with a range of strategies and approaches in teaching that allow me to meet the needs of my students. Also, I have taught and developed schemes of work for English Language, English Literature and GCSE Media.
My approach towards tutoring stems firstly from serving the needs of students, through a range of approaches to suit all learning styles. For example, writing model responses, chunking concepts and ideas to scaffolding difficult task. Moreover, I encourage my students to pursue interests through literature, media and drama products which allows students to build on their subject knowledge. Alongside my students, I too work hard to mature my own subject knowledge in both English, Media and Film Studies which aligns me with my students.
