Matthew

Hi, I'm Matthew. I'm 25 years old and I have been tutoring for over 7 years now, including during my degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Sheffield. I moved down to Bristol in 2021 to complete my Masters and for the last two years tutoring has been my primary focus.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience teaching maths from Key Stage 2 up to A-Level, with each age bringing different methods and challenges. Furthermore I have led group tutoring sessions, including managing volunteers to best suit the needs of the group. I am capable of teaching all modules up to A-Level, although I do specialise in the Pure Maths modules, as this region was the focus of my degree.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that effective maths tutoring involves understanding your learning style, setting clear goals and putting practices in place to help you to achieve those aims.
I will aim to help you put techniques in place as a general toolkit to take on all types of maths problems, regardless of the specific areas we are looking at, fostering your confidence and competence in your maths skills.
After the first few introductory session I will bring in customised and flexible lesson plans tailored for allowing you to flourish outside of the classroom environment.
