I podcast for chemistry students because I want to make chemistry simple for students.

I am an experienced chemist, and have spent my entire career involved with my subject. I am a Chemistry graduate and member of the Royal Society of Chemistry. However, my biggest strengths are more than 10 years of private tuition and my passion for teaching chemistry.

I recently discovered that I am neurodivergent and now I understand why I am so sensitive to the need to use other people's preferred communication styles. I also understand my drive to communicate with clarity.

Tutoring Experience

I began tutoring for a colleague's children many years ago and found that bringing on those first students was vert satisfying. Since then I have tutored many students, primarily at A Level but also GCSE and even undergraduate level.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that it is important to consider the student's current level and find what it is they struggle with. My use of the text books appropriate to their syllabus and the exercises within, as well as the tests, homework and exercises that come yhrough school means the teaching is focused on exactly what the student is needing to know right now. Covering past papers is good for preparing the student that is progressing well. Then there are a number of students who never grasped the foundations of chemical understanding, and a few 1to1 sessions with such students can really begin to raise confidence levels.
