I am a patient, approachable and easygoing personality. I have left a comfortable career as a Civil Servant to follow my passion, to be a full time maths tutor. To do what I know i do best and what, in the past, has given me the greatest personal and professional fulfilment. From an early age I developed a fascination with numbers, I won a Removed#/k# national award for maths. If, in helping a student with their maths, I am also able to impart my passion for numbers, then I will have helped them nurture a skill that will be relevant and useful to them every day of their life.

Tutoring Experience

My tutoring and teaching work spans over ten years, from 5 year olds to graduates. Experience includes in-school extra-curricular tutoring, home schooling, classroom teaching (ages 5-13), and online tutoring. I founded and operated my own online career coaching business (https://www.prep-4-success.co.uk). I am a national maths award winner, have a DBS, and as a recent UK civil servant carry Enhanced Security Check (ESC) status.

Tutoring Approach

I am a passionate believer that, if you can learn your mother tongue, you can succeed at math! I bring a fresh, youthful, and energetic approach, and I look to the needs of each individual student. First, I listen to the student; I seek to understand where they will most benefit from my support, the learning style that works best for them, and the pace that they are comfortable with. If i set expectations high, it is because I know they can exceed them.
For my student to be the best they can be in math I believe that it is my responsibility to make the tutoring sessions effective, to simplify what may seem complex, to make my examples relevant to their interests, and sometimes to introduce humour when there is frustration. In my experience, a happy student is a good student!
