With over 30 years of experience as a successful Physics Specialist in Grammar Schools in England I still love teaching this fascinating subject.
I ended my 32 year full time career as Head of Department. On average two of my students a year took Oxbridge places although teaching students targeted for a lower grade was often more interesting. I have up to date knowledge of all the A level syllabuses, and am still demonstrating the required practical in schools. I coach and mentor new teachers, particularly when they wish to teach A level
In order to help a student, the student needs to relax and know that as they try out newly acquired knowledge the mistakes made are a step closer to understanding. Often physics students know they are able and find it difficult to show "uncertainty" (no pun intended fellow physicists).
I believe in clarity of approach, building concepts step by step, and giving practice with tiered examples. Its all about building confidence.
