Mary

Hi! I'm Mary! I graduated from the University of Exeter in 2024, with a 2:1 in History and Politics, and I am now studying an MA in politics at the University of Bath! I have always had a passion for history, which grew into a want to understand politics. I'm friendly and approachable but also serious about education and wanting everyone to succeed! I'm a Leeds United fan so please don't ask how the football is going... please.

Tutoring Experience

I have previously worked for an in-person tuition company, from the age of 16, which sparked a passion for helping children reach their full potential! I tutored children aged between 4 to 16 covering the national curriculum in English and Maths and 11+ entrance exams! Being a tutor for six years means that I have a lot of practice dealing with different needs and capabilities within a session. I can cater to those wanting to push towards the higher grades or need some support to secure a pass.

Tutoring Approach

Get them excited! The key to learning is being excited and interested in what you are doing. I hope my enthusiasm will rub off on my tutee, making them as excited for our session as I am. This means hosting engaging lessons with the content of the course. However, there would also be a focus on exam technique, as there are a lot of hoops to jump through to boost grades even if you have all the correct information! Explaining things as simply as possible and relating them to real life. History repeats itself and politics is in everything, seeing the links between everyday life and what you are learning helps make it concrete.
