Marvelous

Hi, I'm Marv! I've just completed an Intergrated Masters in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science at the University of Sheffield. Since I can remember, I've loved problem solving and trying to create and build things! My first real foray into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) was in secondary school, and I definitely didn't always get it, but was privileged to have great tutors to help me get to that 'aha!' moment. Now at the end of my formal education (for now!), my mission is to help students get to that 'aha!' moment, in the most engaging, and patient way possible!

Tutoring Experience

I have experience tutoring students of many levels, from primary school Maths and English, to university Computer Science - my most recent role involved tutoring students in an introductory university Artificial Intelligence/Algorithms module.

Tutoring Approach

Tutoring Style: I like to take a unique approach for each student - everyone learns differently and things that work for some students won't work for others. Nonetheless, I'm very persistent (but patient!), and we'll work together to identify your strengths, and we'll be making progress in no time!

What students can expect in lessons: Lesson structures will differ slightly for each student, subject and level, but generally, we'll start with a check-in and review of the student's current knowledge and previous concepts, followed by a deep dive into both weak concepts and new content, then a period of independent (but supported) practice, and finally a wrap up including a review of the lesson and a preview of the next lesson. I always like to take a very interactive approach so students can expect a lot of back and forth and collaborative problem solving when going through concepts, as opposed to a linear lecture style session. All in all though, we'll try to keep it light and fun!

Subjects and Exam Boards: My main specialisation is anything Computer Science related as well as Maths and Physics, both of which I have studied in some capacity to university level. I cover all exam boards!
