In 2019 I trained as a qualified mathematics secondary school teacher, with PGCE, to transition to semi-retirement as a mathematics teacher. I am a patient enthusiastic teacher who enjoys engendering mathematics understanding and accomplishment in my students. Before becoming a teacher I was for many years a Bachelors degree qualified software engineer and a Masters degree qualified company manager and director. For five years I was the Director responsible for a national examiner’s exam marking IT systems.

Tutoring Experience

I completed my professional mathematics teaching qualification, studying at a Buckinghamshire secondary school. I have also completed a post-graduate certificate in education during which I focused on curriculums for underachieving mathematics students. I have taught hundreds of students and now focus on supply teaching and tutoring.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is to build my students' confidence and guide them to understand mathematics principles. This is combined with full knowledge of the national curriculum and a structured approach that will enable the student to master all curriculum areas over time. Far too many are held back from their mathematic potential by anxiety and a lack of tailored support; I aim to overcome these barriers.
