I am a fully qualified TEFL teacher living in South West London. With a BA (Hons) degree from Southampton University I have spent many years working in the travel industry both in this country and in mainland Europe. I am passionate about communicating with people and in sharing cultural ideas. Effective language is not simply a question of grammar and vocabulary, but of confidence, understanding and an appreciation of language culture. My aim is to deliver an all round experience, leaving you confident and eager to further develop your new-found skills.
Many of my former pupils keep in touch with me from around the world and I continue to eagerly share the successes that have come to them from the skills they acquired whilst studying here in London.

Tutoring Experience

With my initial teaching experience in Paris, I have been a full-time tutor of English as a Foreign Language here in the UK for the last 9 years. I teach both in colleges and privately on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. My qualification is aimed primarily at adult teaching but I have taught children very successfully and always value their fresh approach to learning. I teach both General English - from Beginner to Advanced - and also Business English, for which I can draw upon my extensive business experience.

Tutoring Approach

I firmly believe that, first and foremost, teaching must be relevant. This means not only tailoring the subject matter to the individual requirements of the student, but also delivering the teaching in the most effective way.. However, equally important is that lessons must be fun. Enjoyment helps to build confidence and being eager and confident are essential in successful learning. I therefore always promote a very relaxed atmosphere in which both student and tutor can benefit from a very positive experience.
