Chemistry Tutoring in Brent

I am a highly experienced Chemistry tutor and current lecturer at Uxbridge College, where I teach A Level Chemistry, GCSE Chemistry, and Chemistry-related BTEC courses. I hold a honours degree from a leading Russell Group University in the UK and a PGCE in Science Education, including QTS. With over 22 years of experience in Adult Education, I have developed a teaching style that is patient, engaging, and results-focused—tailored to both school-age and adult learners.
In addition to teaching, I work as an examiner for A Level, GCSE, and Cambridge international exams, providing me with a deep understanding of what examiners are looking for and how to help students succeed under pressure. I also regularly mark exam scripts, which enables me to teach with a clear focus on exam technique and mastery of assessment objectives.

Tutoring Experience

Currently, I am teaching at an outstanding college and a lead teacher. This involves planning all GCSE (AQA), A level chemistry (OCR-A) specification for the year, including the PAGS and the only teacher for A Level Chemistry. Each level is assessed with a summative assessment five times during the year which is prepared by myself. This is used for me to inform the parents on the learners progress during parents evening. Continuous formative assessments allows me to adapt my teaching over the course of the year and ensures the best added value for all my learners. Additional roles include, mentoring and coaching new members, lead invigilator for external exams over the busy periods, tutoring and helping students with learning difficulties on a one-to-one basis. Learners tend to appreciate the like skills I give them with the real examples where chemistry is used in the work place, for example, forensic science and artist paint manufacturing, where I worked previously.

Tutoring Approach

I focus on building deep conceptual understanding while coaching students in the skills and mindset required for exam success. Whether you’re aiming for top grades, catching up, or preparing for university-level science, I offer personalised guidance to help you achieve each learners goals.
