Online Psychology Teacher

Hello, my name is Maisy. I am looking to offer private tutoring sessions in Psychology. I am extremely passionate about Psychology and I would like to expand this in the form of private tutoring. During my gap year, before starting at Cardiff University, I worked at a large sixth form college offering 1-to-1, paired and group mentoring sessions for approximately 40 A-Level Psychology students. This is something I found very rewarding and following the release of the recent A Level results, I have seen positive improvements in all of the students I mentored. I achieved A* grades in both A-level Psychology and Sociology and an A grade in A-Level English Language and Literature. I have recently began studying Psychology, with a professional placement, at Cardiff University with the hope of having a professional career focused around Psychology in the future. I have a full DBS check and additional references can be provided if needed.

Tutoring Experience

In terms of teaching experience, I recently worked in a large sixth form college as a Psychology mentor, where I supported approximately 40 psychology students in 1-to-1, paired and group sessions. These are productive sessions in which I demonstrate how to attempt different exam questions, discuss content and also advise on how to achieve a high number of marks in exam questions. I also frequently discuss the different assessment objectives with the students I mentor, including how to approach these and how to recognise what assessment objective specific exam questions are aimed towards. I also guide the students I mentor towards efficient time keeping, as well as keeping exam responses precise and accurate.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach focuses entirely on what the student needs, whether that be understanding content or discussing how to approach evaluation points. I am able to provide extra work if needed and can provide constructive feedback so students can understand their areas needing improvement. I can also relate to most students having originally lacked in confidence myself. I was able to eventually understand my weaknesses and was able to focus on these, leading to an A* grade in Psychology. I hope that this provides comfort to students knowing that challenges can be overcome and lead to success.
