Hi, my name is Mahdiah. I'm a recent graduate with a first class degree in Biomedical Sciences, from Queen Mary University of London. I am now studying a masters in Physician Associate studies, which entails two years of general medicine. I have over 6 years worth of experience in tuition and as a recent graduate, I have up to date knowledge on being a student. I value the rewarding work of being a tutor, especially seeing students progress and develop. I hope to share my passion of biology and teach crucial exam techniques I have picked up along the way. Due to balancing university work, I currently offer online tuition only. Additionally, I can offer group sessions (max 3 students) for a discounted price.
I have experience tutoring students aged 8-18. For three years, I worked at a tuition centre teaching students Maths and English. I helped them with topics they found difficult and developed skills such as comprehension and problem solving. Furthermore, I have been a debating mentor for Debate Mate. This included teaching KS3 and KS4 students debating skills and preparing them for national tournaments. As a tutor I believe extra curricular activities such as debating are just as crucial as academic subjects and so I include some of these elements in my sessions. Lastly, I was employed by a local sixth form to tutor A level students Psychology. This gave me valuable experience in teaching exam skills and complicated content.
I am patient individual and will take the time to adapt my teaching style to each student. I understand everyone learns in different ways and I endeavour to accommodate to that. My focus will be on creating a list with the student on topics they find difficult. Then systematically going through each topic so both tutor and tutee are prepared for each session. I will regularly assess my tutee to ensure they have fully understood the topic before moving on. I will include interactive elements such as quizzes and games. Ultimately, I want to instil a passion for the subject and teach through conversations rather than lecturing. As a recent graduate, I understand the needs of a student and I will try my best to meet these needs for each of my tutees.
