Online Maths Teacher

I love working with students, especially when they are nervous and scared of the subject, rather than against them to find ways of approaching topics they may not have a chance to explore in school, . My enthusiam for maths and passion for tutoring has helped many students pass exams and become more confident within themselves.

I have always wanted to teach but prefer tutoring as I get to work on a one-to-one basis, giving me a better chance to help the student reach their highest potential. I love working with students who are hesistant when it comes to mathematics for whatever reason and finding new ways to engage them in their studies.

I have health issues and so do not teach face to face since the Covid pandemic but I have found a way to work successfully online with my recurring students over Skype.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring privately for over 7 years and I have always helped friends and family with their mathematics, even when I was in school. I tutored for the 2015-2016 academic year at a local tutoring centre where I gained invaluable experience. However, I felt I could provide a better service as a private tutor, which I have been doing successfully since September 2016.

I have unofficially helped multiple people with their maths over the years. I have helped students pass their GCSE exams despite failing a few times previously, as well as tutoring classmates at university.

In the past I have done support work, aiding young adults with learning difficulties. I have personal experience with children with learning difficulties or neurodiversities such as autism/asbergers and ADHD and enjoy the challenge of working with children who struggle with conventional teaching methods.

Tutoring Approach

I prefer a softer approach to tutoring - shouting and demanding doesn't help when a student is already frightened of maths. I like to work on confidence and talk about their fears surrounding mathematics, rather than just powering through. I've found this to be the most successful method and all my GCSE students have not only passed their GCSE first time with me, they have also got a result higher than they hoped for.
