Online Computer Studies / I.T. Lessons

I am a qualified Teacher with over 10 years of experience. I have a degree in Information Systems and PGCE in Applied ICT. I have taught in schools, colleges and in the corporate world. I have a family of my own and understand how frustrating it can be at times, when your child refuses to discuss their homework or progress at school with you. I find sometimes having a middle man can help identify areas of weakness and help to put a plan of action in place. Having worked in a school, I have seen how easy it is for a child to get left behind in a class and also to be kept waiting due to the different attainment levels in a class. My aim is to re-enforce the learning so that it becomes part and parcel of the student and that it can be recalled upon with ease.

Tutoring Experience

I am currently teaching computer science to KS3, KS4 & KS5 students at a school in Harpenden.
Previously I have taught IT Apprentices on the networking pathway and delivering various Microsoft Technical Associate Courses - Networking Fundamentals, Server Administration, Security Fundamentals, Mobility and Devices and Cloud Dundamentals. I also deliver BCS courses Scripting coding & logic as well as Business Processes.

I have experience of teaching Key stage 3 through to A level IT. My last teaching position was at a sixth form college, where I taught databases, communication technologies and visual basic. I am aware of the different teaching strategies used at all levels and am continually learning myself, as IT is forever changing, therefore need to be abreast with the latest developments.

Tutoring Approach

I like to be organised and refer to the curriculum being taught to guide development and strategies towards the knowledge transfer process. I believe a hands on, relative approach is necessary to ensure a student receives a complete understanding of what it is they need to achieve, how it is they are going to achieve it, why they need to achieve it and what they can do once they have achieved it.
