Louise

I am a research scientist with a passion for teaching and all things psychological.

I studied for my undergraduate psychology degree in 2012, achieving a first class honours degree. Realising my passion for teaching, I undertook a PGCE (PCET) Master's, during which time I amassed a wealth of lecturing experience, graduating with a distinction. I was then offered a scholarship to study Cognitive Neuroscience (MSc) at Swansea University and later offered a funded PhD studentship (ESRC) at Cardiff University. I recently received my doctorate.

I also work at Cardiff University as a Research Associate, currently running a project in collaboration with the Defence Science Technology Laboratory and the Ministry of Defence exploring reliance on automated classification systems.

Tutoring Experience

I have several years tutoring and lecturing experience (UWTSD, Cardiff University), spanning further and higher education. I am able to guide and support in all aspects of GCSE, A-Level and degree (undergraduate and postgraduate) level psychology.

I was awarded fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2018 in recognition of my high teaching and academic standards.

Tutoring Approach

I am relaxed and supportive, aiming to help all my students achieve the very best.

Having undertaken many years of education, I understand the challenges and anxieties surrounding assessment and learning and so my approach is one of humour (where appropriate), patience and understanding.

My students report that I make them feel at ease, whilst bringing out their potential, with many remaining with me from undergraduate through to postgraduate degree level.
