Louise

Education is my first love and writing is my second. I believe that education - in all its forms - is the key to helping people connect with others, themselves and the world around them.

Having spent 10 years teaching and leading in secondary education, I am now starting a new life in which I seek to help people to access the education that they need whilst also learning myself.

I travel around the world with my husband and am always looking to offer my skills to those in need. I am currently working with the UK's National Tuition Program, which offers disadvantaged students tuition to help 'bridge the gap' that has been widened even further by COVID.

I have also taught in Uganda and am working with on a project to help young offenders to build their confidence and self-managment skills through an accredited course.

Tutoring Experience

I taught English Literature and Language in secondary schools in the UK for 12 years and found it very rewarding. I have also been Head of Department, Assistant Headteacher and Lead Practitioner for WJEC.

Throughout my career and in my many roles, I have aways put the goal of helping other to indepedence at the heart of my work. Young people need knowledge and information, but so much more they need confidence and learning skills that will help them to thrive in any situation.

I have tutored throughout my career - at first in person, then a hybrid and now just online. My students and their parents are always very pleased with the process and results of tuition.

Tutoring Approach

Lessons are one to one and tailored to the student's needs and focus on building confidence and autonomy in learning. I am happy to follow what the student is doing at school, or to cover skills in a discrete way.

I am kind and approachable and want students to feel comfortable during sessions so that they are willing to take risks in learning. My approach fosters trust and creates a space in which students feel they can ask questions and challenge ideas.
