I grew up close to London and having lived and worked abroad, I moved home to teach. I enjoy a range of sports in my spare time

Tutoring Experience

Having taught in secondary schools in London, as well as in an Oxfordshire secondary school for the past few years as Head of Department.

I have taught a range of both Psychology and Sociology boards to GCSE and A level. For the last few years I have also worked as an examiner for the AQA exam board

In the 2014 exam series 100% of students I tutored achieved A*/A & B grades. I am extremely pleased to have had students achieving such success in their exams over the last 9 years, since I started private tutoring

I enjoy the 1:1 experience of tutoring as it is incredibly rewarding seeing students progress from finding subject matter overwhelming and confusing to fully grasping concepts and being able to apply these to a range of different situations. I strive to utilise a range of teaching methods and resources which I adapt for specific individuals' needs

Tutoring Approach

Success in tutoring lies in ascertaining the specific needs of the individual requiring 1:1 support, and tailoring the sessions to these needs. Solidifyingthe knowledge and understanding of each student in order to both fill in the gaps and focus attention on exactly what information is required for the exam is of utmost importance. I am passionate about the subjects that I teach (Sociology and Psychology), and believe that they both have the potential to develop an inquisitive and questioning mind

A patient and focused approach allows students to gain confidence and achieve the high grades they are working towards

I can help with core topics and exam preparation - I believe anyone can understand a topic so long as it is explained clearly enough
