Louisa

I am currently an undergraduate Mathematics student at the University of Warwick. Having always had an enjoyment for mathematics, it became very obvious to me in my education that not many other people shared my view on mathematics, and so I made the extra effort to hep my fellow classmates understand key concepts so that they too could appreciate the beauty of it. As a young woman in STEM, I am incredibly passionate about encouraging other girls to break the glass ceiling and surpass all expectations. I am dedicated and diligent and always ensure that I am able to execute tasks efficiently without compromising on my human nature and empathy.

Tutoring Experience

Although I have no formal teaching experience, as Head Girl during Sixth-Form I lead a large group of students and ensured I was able to understand everyone's learning approach. Furthermore, throughout my school career, I was always enthusiastic to lending a hand to my classmates. For example, in Year 11, I dedicated 2 hours a week to work through problem sheets with one of my friends who was struggling and underperforming ; through resilience and encouragement she passed her GCSE and could therefore move on to the Sixth-Form of her choice.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that we learn best in an environment in which we feel comfortable, but not complacent. Challenges should be treated with care and excitement. Although often problems may seem daunting, I believe that equipping students with a toolset of skills to unpack, analyse and dissect problems allows them to devise their own full-proof plans. Empowering students through specific feedback and active recall ensures they reach their full potential. I am also incredibly passionate about advertising the need for consistent hard work and perseverance.
