I am a book-loving, film-watching, cake-baking, farm-living, mum of four. I have been a primary school teacher for nearly 20 years and I love to help children enjoy their learning.
I’m available for home-schooling during school hours or private/small group tutoring evenings and weekends.
I’m reliable and enthusiastic, and looking forward to expanding my tutoring circle.

Tutoring Experience

With 18 years experience in the classroom, I have taught a wonderful range of children of different ages and abilities. I have 14 years experience of working as a Year 6 teacher and have privately tutored children through their SATs exams, ensuring they feel confident with their move to secondary school.
I have taught across all years of Primary School, specialising in KS2, but I am confident in the KS1 curriculum and could offer reduced 1/2 hour sessions for younger children if parents felt that was more appropriate.

Tutoring Approach

I’ve found that most children (and adults!) learn best when they are active and having fun. This can be more tricky online but I believe it’s important to incorporate this into each session where possible.
Often, the best place to start is to help children find confidence in themselves through carefully selected challenges that gradually build their knowledge and skills.

The resources I use vary according to each child’s individual needs. These could be interactive games, video links, worksheets, past papers…different children require different approaches.
I use Zoom video calls to interact with the children and a well-known online search engine’s “Classroom” to share work.
Each session will have some follow up tasks to support their learning, and parents will be regularly informed of their child’s progress through either video call or email communications.
