Hi! I'm Lola, currently a part-time masters student at the University of Manchester, living near West Didsbury. I have a First Class degree in Mathematics from the University of Sheffield, and was tutoring while studying there. I've also previously worked as a financial assistant, first for a charity and then a music shop. I grew up very passionate about maths and want to encourage students to discover that same enjoyment!
I began tutoring in my gap year, and have since gained a great amount of experience and familiarity teaching maths, mainly in the 11-16 age bracket, with a very clear understanding of the GCSE curriculum requirements. I'm very happy to say I've had my students' understanding (and results) greatly improve after working with them. I tutored throughout my undergrad degree but am looking to do it much more regularly, now that my availability has increased.
I like to focus most on student enjoyment and understanding. If someone is excited about or interested in a subject, results always follow! It's very hard and laborious to just teach someone exam prep, I prefer to find out what the student enjoys, why they might struggle, and how I can best make it understandable and interesting for them.
