Private French and Italian Tuition in Warwick

I hold a PhD in History of Art and am the author of several scholarly publications, including a book forthcoming in May 2024. I can offer subject-specific tutoring in History and History of Art for A level and university students. This includes support in presentation/assignment planning, and essay planning and writing for both English native speakers and foreign students.

I am trilingual (English, Italian, French) and can therefore offer tutoring in Italian (any level) and French (up to A level).

Tutoring Experience

I am active as a university lecturer and have experience privately tutoring undergraduate students on essay writing and copyediting PhD theses.

More specifically, I taught at the University of York, where I led undergraduate seminars, at the University of Warwick, where I delivered lectures for core undergraduate courses and designed and taught a course for third-year undergraduates and MA students, and at the Courtauld Institute of Art, where I designed and taught a short course for adult learners in collaboration with a colleague. This experience includes essay and exam marking.

I am also active as a professional translator and have experience tutoring A level French students. You can read more about my translations on my website: https://livialupi.com/translations/

Tutoring Approach

I am particularly keen on developing students' confidence in expressing themselves orally in an effective and persuasive way, and in improving their writing. In order to refine their critical skills, I encourage students to focus on planning and ask themselves questions that challenge assumptions and will elevate their work.

Once they have prepared their presentation/essay, I give careful feedback aimed at refining their thought process and the way they deliver their ideas, be this orally or in writing. This process applies to all areas of my tutoring (History, History of Art and languages).
