I am a mature woman, open and friendly and enjoy meeting new people. I have a family with 2 teenagers and am very involved with my local community through voluntary work. I love traveling and learning about new cultures and languages. I studied drama and French at university and love the theatre, being actively involved in my village panto!
In my early twenties, I lived abroad in France for 1 year as part of my French degree, teaching English to secondary school children. I then became fluent in the French language after my university degree whilst living near Paris for a further 2 years. During that time I would meet with au pairs to help them improve their spoken English. More recently I have been a student support worker at Warwickshire F.E college for over 15 years, working with learners in the classroom who have a learning disability. I have also taught adult learners at my local college in basic skills such as maths, English and independent living skills, having completed the first stage of a City & Guilds teaching certificate.
My approach is friendly and casual, taking the cue from the learner in how they want to learn and approach the subject. I won't necessarily use printed material unless requested but focus on the learner improving their spoken English or french, particularly focusing on improving conversational language, useful for traveling and making friends.
