I am a Psychology BSc student at Reading University. I have extensive experience in study skills. Having gotten into Magdalen College, Oxford University to study a BA in French, I refined my study skills extensively throughout my preparation for entry. Now studying for a BSc in Psychology I am learning about motivation and study tactics such as metacognition. I was always top of my class throughout my school years and I got the highest grade in my class in the International Baccalaureate (an alternative to A-Levels where you study 6 subjects and do extra-curricular activities). I have also been following blogs like Scott Young's and reading books on effective study techniques for around 10 years now. I know how to teach a student to study for maximum understanding and retention, in order to ace exams.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught students from my entry into Sixth Form. I tutored A-Level and GCSE students subjects such as mathematics and French. I then tutored disadvantaged students for a charity called Compassion Action Homes, and I also tutored at Explore Learning for primary and secondary school children. I have also private tutored online for a few years now. The subject I am best at and enjoy teaching the most is study skills.

Tutoring Approach

I always listen to the student and what they are struggling with and put a specific plan in place to address those weaknesses and improve whatever skills they are lacking whether it's organisation or a depth of understanding of the material. Efficiency of studying is also improved upon a lot where one hour of studying will improve their grades significantly more than before.

I am available from July to beginning of October on afternoons, certain evenings and weekends. After that I will be at university so will have more limited slots but I have not received my timetable yet so don't know my exact availability. Online tutoring only.
