I am an experienced teacher and tutor. I've taught in both mainstream and specialist situations. Since 2006, I have been teaching English in state secondary schools. At present, I teach GCSE English Language and Literature, GCSE History and GCSE Psychology.
I have been teaching since 1996 and also worked as an examiner for ten years. I currently teach online for a charity supporting children out of mainstream education. I offer online tuition on weekday evenings.
In the first lesson, for which I offer a 50% discount, I like to take time to get to know how the student feels about the subject they are studying and where they feel they most need help. I then supply a short piece of work or some verbal questions that allows me to see the level at which the student is working.
Online lessons are then a mixture of explanations, discussion and short written activities. While I might share short video clips, I would expect watching videos and extended writing to be completed in the student's own time.
